National Aeronautics and Space Administration:
What is Happening?
The human expansion of The Greenhouse Effect can result in the atmosphere trapping the heat that is radiating into outer space. This move is causing the temperature on earth to increase on Earth's surface as well as in the ocean's and in the atmosphere.
Here are a handful of changes due to climate change:
-High temperature extremes
-Heavy precipitation events are increasing
-Glaciers and snow covers are shrinking
-Seas are heating up, rising higher, and becoming more acidotic
-Flooding is becoming more common along the coastlines
How Is The Planet and The Wildlife That Inhabit It Affected ?
Climate Change isn't just "Global Warming".
Prolonged Periods of high temperatures and dry conditions lead to droughts and increased susceptibility to forest fires.
-Global temperature has risen by 1.4 degrees since 1888
Increased global temperature contributes to rapidly melting ice glaciers and rising sea levels
-Adelie Penguin population has decreased 90% due to melting ice
-Rising sea levels: “Global sea levels are rising 0.13 inches (3.2 millimeters) a year” (nationalgeographic.com).
How Will Humans be Affected?
Human health will be compromised depending on many different factors including where you live, your gender, your age, and your socioeconomic status.
Other important circumstances are:
-How sensitive you are to threats
-How much you are exposed to the change
-How well you and your community react to the change
Those who live in smaller countries will be most impacted, due to the fact they are less established than larger countries. On top of where you live, different populations are more concerning than others including children, pregnant women, and those with low incomes.
